CNC Machinist

Job Overview

We are currently recruiting a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist for our client based in Preston. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-quality precision components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (Turning and/or Milling)

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

  • Perform tool changes, offsets, and basic program edits where required

  • Inspect finished components using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)

  • Ensure parts meet quality standards and tolerances

  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping

  • Work to production schedules and deadlines

  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures at all times

  • Identify and report any faults or quality issues

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist

  • Experience with CNC Turning and/or Milling machines

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

  • Knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Siemens (preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and quality

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (preferred but not essential)

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering or equivalent (desirable)
