On behalf of our Leyland based client we are seeking to recruit an experienced Horticultural Assistant to work within support their busy production team. This role involves manual hands-on work within a busy horticultural production facility. Ideally you will have previous quality control experience specifically within plant care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and all related fields.

Duties

• Checking plants and shrubs within the nursery for quality control ensuring they meet with the very highest of standards during the growing and dispatch process.
• Overseeing the planting and growing process to ensure proper watering schedules and plant health
• Completing customer plant and shrub orders as required.
• Use appropriate hand tools and power tools for planting, trimming, soil preparation, and maintenance tasks
• Assist with greenhouse operations such as transplanting seedlings and managing plant growth conditions within the workplace.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of general work areas to promote safety and efficiency.
• To complete all other associated work tasks as required within the nursery

Requirements

• Prior horticultural experience is essential for this position. Prior experience of quality control procedures would be a distinct advantage.
• Familiarity with irrigation systems and greenhouse operations is a plus
• Ability to operate hand tools (e.g., pruners, shovels) and power tools safely and effectively
• Physical ability to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for plant health
• Reliable and conscientious work ethic with the ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
