CAD/CAM Programer

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CAD / CAM Operator to join our growing team in Preston. As a CAD / CAM Operator, you will be responsible for creating and optimising designs and technical drawings for manufacturing processes. You will work closely with engineers and designers to ensure all production requirements are met with precision and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:

  • Create & Modify Technical Drawings: Use CAD software to design and modify detailed technical drawings for products, components, and systems.
  • CAM Programming: Prepare files for CNC machines, ensuring all specifications and tolerances are met.
  • Collaborate with Engineers & Designers: Work alongside engineers and design teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and align with production requirements.
  • Quality Control: Review designs and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Machine Setup & Operation: Assist in setting up and operating CNC machines, ensuring they are running efficiently and accurately.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues with designs, machine performance, or production processes.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of designs, modifications, and any changes made during the manufacturing process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements and suggest ways to increase efficiency and quality in the production environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a CAD / CAM role or a similar role in manufacturing, engineering, or design.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD and CAM software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam, or similar.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential when working with technical drawings and machine programming.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues and come up with efficient solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills to effectively work with other team members, engineers, and designers.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of CNC Machines: Familiarity with CNC machinery, tooling, and programming will be highly beneficial.
  • Qualification: A relevant qualification or certification in CAD / CAM, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
